Living with Fibromyalgia is hard…
That’s a given..
But when you have the associated illnesses all clamouring at you too, life gets extremely difficult.
One if the other things I have to contend with on a daily basis is Diverticulitis.
Diverticula are tiny pockets which form in your digestive system.
Some people have them and never know..
For me, 4 years ago, these pockets truly played up, and after many years of being told I had IBS, the symptoms became more severe and more frequent.
I had a colonoscopy and enendoscopy at a Hospital and the consultant showed me the images after.
Clearly seeing these pockets, with loads of nodules angrily staring from the screen was both saddening ( to see your illness up close is very emotional) but also freeing.. as I was finally vindicated…
You see IBS is another, what I call “Bucket Diagnosis”…
Pain in stomach, diarrhoea, cramps – Chuck it in the IBS bucket.
With Diverticulitis, the angry pockets become inflammed and can tear really easily, causing intense pain.
Diarrhoea, constipation, cramp all follows..
Add that to Fibromyalgia ad you can clearly see why so many spoonies are fed up all the time..
